Comparing yourself

Updated: Nov 29

Comparing yourself so to someone else is a curse. You succeed when you’re content with your life and work. And there’s no resentment or anger in how you spend your days. Other people are good the way they are, unless they are harming others.

Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to someone else today.

The Stoic response to comparing yourself to others is to look at what you currently have in your life and display gratitude for those things rather than look at what others may have.

You succeed when you are content with your life and work. And there’s no resentment or anger in how you spend your days. Or about other people and their successes. Or gloating over their failures. When you get up in the morning and are pretty happy, okay, it’s not so perfect, but with what you are doing and who you are doing it with.

I use the art of listening.
